Hi Corey, I love the idea of buying a loft in downtown LA rather than renting it, but is monthly payments would be significantly higher when you buy VS. renting?
– Edward G.
Thank you for your question Edward. Unless you have a large down payment, the monthly mortgage PITI with HOA dues will be higher than renting. The reason is that homeowners get … a homeowner gains unlimited increasing equity while a renter suffers unlimited rent increases. U.S. News and World Report have 10 reasons to own instead of renting http://money.usnews.com/money/personal-finance/articles/2012/04/24/10-reasons-to-buy-instead-of-rent and L.A. Hi Corey,
Thank you for answering my question and sending me links.
I definitely interested in buying a loft in DTLA, but I need to be more financially stable.
I’m looking forward to be in touch with you and reading more of your blog.
Sincerely,
– Edward Grad
I understand what you mean. I have been wanting to buy real estate since 1990, but could not afford it until 2012. That was a long 22 years! It’s never to early to start preparing to make what is usually the largest investment in our life.
22 years is a loooong time.
Looking for a loft between $1700- $2100
Please send me a list. My credit isn’t great but I have a cosigner if needed. Looking at a move in date asap.
Jason
Hi Jason. Thank you for your question. The best loft rentals under $2,500 that are more lenient with credit requirements can be found with the L.A. Loft Tour or Priority Upgrade at http://www.LALoftTour.com. Thanks again.
Looking for a space in downtown area can be difficult. The best units are usually private listed and you need a realtor who has access to private listings. Working with this team was a breeze. They were patient, helpful and they genuinely care for you.
