L.A. Loft Blog readers have known for some time that Alta Lofts in Lincoln Heights have presented a great value for those who want a bigger, nicer loft with views at a lower price. Something new is #lincolnheights #jail #lofts
coming to the area. Many artists are also aware that the Brewery Lofts in the neighborhood is the world’s largest artist loft rental complex. The area along the Los Angeles River is expected to be the beneficiary of many billions of dollars of renovation as the city, state and federal government pour money in to re-naturalize and re-green the L.A. River. Buyer Doug Sanders today enjoys the fruits of that improvement at his new River House condominium by the water, which also boasts views of new Marsh Park. The city has stated that they want loft conversions to be built in in the area along with new construction homes, and the latest news is that new Lincoln Heights Lofts could be in the works.
Lincoln Property Company and Fifteen Group are currently in the lead, competing with other companies to redevelop the Lincoln Heights Jail, a 1930s Art Deco structure next to the river and the Metro Gold Line rail. Their “Lincoln Heights Makers District” project plan calls for repurposing the jail and adding new development of an adjacent 3.2-acre site owned by Fifteen Group with 268,250 square feet of residential space, 220,000 square feet of commercial space, 57,000 square feet of manufacturing and retail, along with more than four acres of open space. Plans include a rooftop garden that’s big enough for large events, and an amphitheater at the north corner of the property.
