Built as a grand cathedral to commerce and leisure and modeled after the 19th century shopping arcades of Paris and London, Spring Arcade is two towers flanking a three story glass enclosed and sunlit bazaar. Spanish Renaissance and Beaux Arts details, unique spacious floor plans, hardwood floors, high ceilings and modern appointments create the ultimate in 21st century sophisticated urban living.

Spring Arcade’s three-level, skylit arcade has been called a space “as regal as almost any other interior space in the city.” All of the newly renovated units are fully wired for cable and internet and come with white oak hardwood floors, granite and marble kitchens with stainless steel appliances, and central heat and air. Other available amenities include European washer/dryer units, skylights, and patios.

Built in 1924, the 12-story, double-wing Spring Arcade Building was designed by San Francisco architects with continental backgrounds. Kenneth MacDonald had trained in Paris at the Ecole des Beaux Arts, and internationally recognized structural engineer Maurice Couchot was French. Originally known as the “Mercantile Arcade Building,” the dominant features of the three-story base of the building are the beautiful terra cotta archway lunette, decorated with ornate Beaux Arts/Spanish Renaissance motifs, and the cavernous midblock arcade connecting Spring Street with Broadway. On the rooftop of both the Broadway and the Spring Towers still stand the landmark old KRKD radio towers.
