“I found a great deal on a rental at Alta Lofts 200 N San Fernando Rd Apt 303 for only $560.00.”  —  NOT!!!

There is no such deal.  Alta lofts rent for more around $2,000 to $3,000 per month. The scammers and fraudsters are not taking a vacation this holiday season.  Now that the L.A. Loft Blog’s anti-fraud alerts and aggressive counter-attacks against Craigslist scammers have had an effect, the fraudsters are using other websites and now apps to propagate fake rental listings and steal personal information such as social security numbers for identity theft.

The scammers do not answer their phone.  They text to tell the unsuspecting victim to fill out an online rental application so they can sell the social security number and other identity info. The original website is not clear, but it fraudulent postings are also on apartmentlist.com and apartments.com.

If the price is extremely low, the owner/manager/agent is not available to meet in person or talk on the phone, it is likely a scam.  Do not give your personal information unless you meet in person or talk on the phone to an advertised phone number. If you suspect this type of scam, then flag the post to report it, and then contact the police.

But it might piss you off once you find out that someone else got your dream loft before you found out about it. They took your ideal place because they found out about it well before you found it online.  We all want to live in the nicest loft, condo or apartment possible, such as the Eastern Columbia Building, Market Lofts and Flower Street Lofts, while getting the best deal on it. But the biggest secret in Downtown LA real estate is that up to 45% of the best deals are not listed with all of the real estate agents, and they are also not on the internet. They are called pocket listings, off-market or unlisted properties for sale and for lease. The good news is that it costs little or no money to get access to these amazing lofts and super deals. Get unlisted lofts, condos and apartments in your email. Fill out the online form:
