REAL ESTATE NEWS ( Downtown Los Angeles, CA) — The Summit of Americas brings traffic, road closures to Downtown LA. Barricades, road closures and snarled traffic combine with homeless tent cities, an explosion of violent crime, skyrocketing fuel prices and runaway inflation. Amid all this, a convention center full of politicians.
President Biden promises to outline his vision for the future at this week’s Summit of the Americas here in LA, according to CBS. Not everyone is happy about this presidential visit to Downtown Los Angeles. Many will avoid being downtown this week because presidential motorcades cause many street closures, leading to massive gridlock in the city center. Street barricades are installed, positioned in front of the convention center where the summit will be. Unfortunately, Biden and global leaders will be coming and going, all week, shuttling and fro, leading to blocked streets and halted vehicles on many streets and freeways.
The Ninth Summit of Americas allows for important discussions of big issues, including immigration, human rights and climate change. Hopefully they will discuss how to stop the deadly flow of fentanyl into this country. This is the first time for the United States to host the summit since 1994. Apparently the president if Mexico is not going to show up because the U.S. has banned leaders of Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua. While it’s still not clear exactly which foreign leaders will be here, one thing is for sure — they’re be getting a gander of a Los Angeles that more closely resembles how poorer countries looked 40 years ago: homeless shanties and decaying infrastructure. It’s unlikely that many of the world leaders will be getting out to take a walk. It’s simply too dangerous. If they are not assaulted by mentally ill homeless, they might break their ankle in one of many holes in the sidewalks, where they could be electrocuted by exposed high power lines. If they survive that, they could be hit by miscellaneous stray bullets. The world leaders could be shocked by the smell of trash, rotting waste, urine and human excrement on the sidewalks.
Caltrans warns drivers to stay away from the areas between the 110, 10 and 101 freeways, and to avoid the 6th street avenue off ramps. On Tuesday, the voting booths in the same area present a possibility of conflicting traffic chaos between summit attendees, police, voters and workday commuters.
World leaders are also getting an up-close glimpse of the languishing symbol of communist China real estate crash, the development project ghost building called OceanWide Plaza. It’s right across the street from LA LIVE and the Crypto.com Arena. Also nearby are Flower Street Lofts, Ritz Carlton Residences, Ten50, Evo, Elleven, Luma and Metropolis condominium buildings.
