The proposed development would set aside 37 of the apartments as deed-restricted affordable housing. In exchange for the approval of density bonus incentives to permit increased height and floor area, as well as a reduction in required automobile parking.

Martin Luther King Jr Day

Love foundation of unity
“Love is the greatest force in the universe. It is the heartbeat of the moral cosmos.” — MLK
Civil rights gains and an atmosphere of love and unity helped set the direction
for Loft Blog founders Corey Chambers and Jackie Wieland.

Rev Martin Luther King, Jr was largely responsible for the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965. The Civil Rights Act banned discrimination in the workforce and public accommodations based on race, color, religion, or national origin. Here are some MLK quotes to remember:

“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”

“Forgiveness is not an occasional act. It is a permanent attitude.”

“We may have all come on different ships, but we’re in the same boat now.”

“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.”

“Change does not roll in on the wheels of inevitability, but comes through continuous struggle.”

“Love is the only force capable of transforming an enemy into friend.”

“If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.”

“The time is always right to do what is right.”

“Man must evolve for all human conflict a method which rejects revenge, aggression and retaliation. The foundation of such a method is love.”

“Hate is just as injurious to the hater as it is to the hated. Like an unchecked cancer, hate corrodes the personality and eats away its vital unity. Many of our inner conflicts are rooted in hate. This is why psychiatrists say, “Love or perish.” Hate is too great a burden to bear.”

“Freedom is never voluntarily given by the oppressor; it must be demanded by the oppressed.”

“Even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream.”

Without the unifying love and powerful leadership of Martin Luther King Jr, the Loft Blog would not exist. In recognition of civil rights progress, check out the Wisdom Matters blog post on the L.A. Loft Blog. How can we help you? Fill out the online form:
