The Los Angeles Times newspaper has recently reported that Downtown Los Angeles hasn’t seen this much construction since the 1920s. 42 developments of at least 50,000 square feet have been built since 2010, according to real estate data firm CoStar.  #newhomes #dtla

At Wilshire and Figueroa in Downtown L.A., builders are wrapping up construction of the Wilshire Grand, the tallest building in the West. Created by Korean Air, the skyscraper zooms 1,100 feet high.  It consists of a hotel, offices and an observation deck.

A couple blocks away, developer Greenland of China has complete the first condominium building and separate hotel building of its new Metropolis complex, a $1-billion development with 350 hotel rooms and more than 1,500 condo units. Arts District Downtown Los Angeles Anticipates At Mateo New Shopping Center and Homes For Sale

At Mateo is an upcoming $80 million Grove-style shopping center that will replace five old warehouses with 128,000 square feet of shopping. Arts District locals and visitors will enjoy a bounty of new artisanal food options along with hip, upscale retail stores in chic industrial buildings. The project combines some original historic industrial buildings with several new buildings clad in recycled brick. Locally harvested cobblestones pave a common area, while broad multipane windows bring in natural light.  #atmateo #artsdistrict

On land once occupied vineyards and orange groves, then by 1970s warehouses, the center will bring also two floors of creative workspace above the retail. Restaurant and cool chain-free shops will attract large number of visitors, who will have plenty of parking thanks to the new parking structure included in the new construction.
