2-Story Lofts Downtown Los Angeles

The L.A. Loft Blog recently discussed lofts with bedrooms and bedroom doors. Because 2-story lofts offer bed area separation, they are a very popular feature. It’s no wonder that the #1 search on the L.A. Loft Blog today is 2-Story Lofts.

As an alternative to a traditional bedroom, a 2-level loft gives the desirable separation while allowing for extra loftiness because also brings higher ceilings in the main area, often 15′ to 20′ instead of the more typical 10′ loft ceilings.

Downtown Los Angeles Lofts with Bedrooms and Doors

The Elusive Loft Bedroom, 2 Bedroom and 3 Bedrooms.  Do They Exist?

Because openness is a quintessential aspect of the loft, most lofts do not have any bedroom doors.  There are exceptions to this rule.  About 20% of Downtown L.A. lofts have some kind of door on the bedrooms. There are not many 2-bedroom lofts in DTLA, but there are some.  Our team has never seen a 3-bedroom loft with doors in Downtown. Three bedrooms are basically family size.  A loft and a family nary meet.  If three pals are close enough to live in a loft together, then they are quite chummy. They apparently will not need much privacy. Even the most ardent loft aficionados prefer to have some separation of the bed area.

To make loft door matters worse, bedroom doors usually signify that there will be carpet in the bedroom. Most loft lovers hate carpet. When bedroom door seekers get lucky and find a loft with a real bedroom, they usually open the door only to be let down, finding a wall-to-wall carpeted bedrooms.

For those who really want a loft with a bedroom door, there are some options. Some of the best genuine lofts with real bedroom doors are not advertised, and they are not on the internet.  They can be found with the help of a Downtown real estate professional service such as the L.A. Loft 3-Hour Tour. For more information, visit www.LALoftTour.com.
