To help preserve the historic buildings of Los Angeles, a tax incentive has been created by California state and local governments called the Mills Act. The special law offers homeowners of qualifying historic buildings as much as 70% or more off of their property tax bills. Owners of lofts in a historic building can potentially save thousands of dollars each year. That money can be used to help furnish your the loft home, put more money down at purchase to reduce monthly mortgage payments, trade up to a larger loft or even just put in your pocket. But, buyers should also be prepared and save some of the money for potential special assessments in the future should a building need major restoration.

Mills Act Buildings offer tax savings based on several conditions.  Get the facts for free.  Fill out the online form.

The original hardwood flooring combined with original terrazzo make an elegant statement. Custom cabinetry build-out and separated bedroom area make for a simplistic, yet private space within the unit. Large master bath with dual sinks and shower/tub combo. Solar shades, custom paint, and underground parking make this a special find, in an area bustling with excitement! Within a stone’s throw are Church & State, Little Bear, Bestia, Pour Haus, Zinc Cafe, Urban Radish and soon to be Soho House!

DTLA Arts District is outlined east of the Historic Core by Second Street to Seventh Street and Alameda Street and the LA River, surprisingly, the Southeast section of Downtown from end to end is totally walkable. in the Arts District, where the graffiti is the art! In the 1970s, the old, industrial warehouses in this district, many of the railroad buildings, were converted into art lofts for both workspaces and, once the AIR ordinance was passed, legal living spaces. Sprinkled amidst these perimeters are the makings of a community rich in character, socially conscious boutiques and some of the best restaurants and bars.
