The South East Asian Food Connections in Santee Passage Near Santee Village Lofts and Condos

Eckardt Building (Santee Village) Downtown Los Angeles

The Santee Passage food court probably isn’t where you’d expect to find some of the most delicious Thai food in Los Angeles, but that is where you’ll find Downtown’s Holy Basil. Using high-quality, locally sourced ingredients, chef Wedchayan “Deau” Arpapornnopparat and partner Tongkamal “Joy” Yuon regularly inspire revelations in Southeast Asian flavor and spice with their version of takeout favorites like pad kee mao and green curry. Available for takeout and delivery.  Details

There’s a Stumptown Coffee coming right around the corner, and Sonoratown is already winning awards and turning heads with their northern-Mexico style tacos from a tiny storefront on 8th Street. It’s also worth noting that, while the names are similar, this Santee Passage project is in no way connected to Santee Alley, a long-running outdoor bazaar in the same Fashion District area. The Passage project is a couple of blocks to the north, and won’t open until sometime early next year.

Little Tokyo is Sushi Central in Downtown Los Angeles

It’s a great time to be a sushi fan. The Japanese sushi scene in DTLA is stronger than ever as the local palet is evolving to be less squeamish towards raw fish and much more inclined towards simplicity. There seems to be sushi at every corner in Los Angeles, but Downtown L.A., in particular, boasts a diversity of options. Little Tokyo in itself is sushi central and not far from it are powerhouses like Sushi Zo and Sugarfish. You’ll get a good mix of affordable plus luxurious choices – all without driving very far.

Little Tokyo on the edge of the downtown historic core lofts and the Arts district industrial lofts puts many great sushi places within walking distance.

Here is a shortlist of DTLA sushi places to check out it is not a complete list and we recommend checking their hours of operations before you head in.
