Noticing some bike tires going by outside my Alta loft in the Lincoln Heights neighborhood by Downtown Los Angeles, I could hear no ruckus, so I peaked out to see if they were a law-abiding bunch or another unruly gang usurping the streets and blocking cars without the aid of law enforcement. #worldnakedbikeride #altalofts #wnbr
Fortunately, this was the former, a legal horde of political protesting group showing that they care about the world by showing everything. Some might find not quite legal, but it looks pretty legit to me, particularly being being for political speech, with signs speaking against plutocracy, apparently disparaging President Trump.
Here’s the uncensored video with full nudity – viewer discretion is advised:
The World Naked Bike Ride, or WNBR, is an international clothing-optional bike ride in which participants plan, meet and ride together in large groups on human-powered transport. Most ride bicycles with no clothes on to “deliver a vision of a cleaner, safer, body-positive world.”
Downtown L.A. 30 years ago was the set for many a nude photography session in the all-but-abandoned Arts district of the 1980’s and 1990’s. Today, nudity in public has become very rare in DTLA as many different people with different sensibilities pack into the once blighted area.
Downtown remains a forum for political discourse and every kind of gathering, including many on foot and on bike. Sharing in the Downtown rennaisance, Lincoln Heights is, in a way, the new Arts District because it is an up-and-coming creative LA neighborhood with a industrial heritage like Downtown’s Arts District was 20 years ago. | About the Author
