Historic CoreMillsActLA.com  —  Want to save a bundle on your property taxes while helping to maintain the authentic integrity of an historic California building? The Mills Act is a California law allowing cities to enter into contracts with the owners of historic buildings. Such contracts involve a reduction of property taxes (sometimes up to 66% or more) in exchange for the continued preservation of the property.

Mills Act Historical Property Contract Program

A formal agreement, generally known as a Mills Act or Historical Property Contract, is executed between the City of Los Angeles and property owners for a revolving ten-year term. Contracts are automatically renewed each year so that the term of the contract always extends for ten years. Builders and homeowners agree to restore, maintain, and protect the property

in accordance with specific historic preservation standards and conditions identified in the contract. Periodic inspections by LA City and County officials ensure proper maintenance of the property. The City may impose penalties for breach of contract or failure to protect the historic property. The contract is transferred to new owners if the property is sold, and is binding to all successive owners.  MILLS ACT DETAILS  >> MORE   |   SOLD

It represents the future of transport: ground-based travel at up to 800 miles per hour. From a station near your loft or condo, it will zoom you to San Francisco in 30 minutes. It is the Hyperloop, and it’s taking shape in Downtown Los Angeles.

The PhillyVoice reported back in August 2013 that Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk teamed up with SpaceX to publish a 57-page white paper detailing the design and technical features of a transportation system that would move at near supersonic speeds, improving safety and slashing costs. Wired Magazine reported this week that the project is getting more serious.

With plans donated by Tesla founder Elan Musk, several companies are teaming up with engineers from NASA, Boeing and SpaceX to turn the Hyperloop pipe dream transportation model in to a reality. Downtown Los Angeles is the epicenter of the design phase, and is envisioned to be a hub of the future supersonic tube network.

Located adjacent to the Arts District in Downtown Los Angeles, Hyperloop Technologies is already leading the way as the headquarters of the engineering, development and fabrication center.  Several established technology companies and investment firms are now joining the effort.

This enormous undertaking will give DTLA an even greater boost in its transition from transport desolation of the 80’s to the future world hub of travel technology.  The world will flock to Downtown in a dramatic fashion for convenient access to this powerful new transportation system.
