BMI, the largest music rights organization in the world, recently congratulated 2017 Emmy Award winner Jeff Beal at his studio in Los Angeles.  #dtla #artists

Once known as the home to struggling, starving artists, Downtown Los Angeles has transformed from strife and decay into a powerful juxtaposition of struggle and achievement that cooks up an environment of toil-cum-luxe super-creativity. This rare kind of stimulating bastion continues to draw more and more of the world’s greatest talents in music, television, film and business. As the urban neighborhoods continue a dramatic renaissance from blight to renewal, the shining beacon brightens for DTLA. While many low-revenue artists have sadly been gentrified out of Downtown LA, the positive change and sweeping growth assures that thousands of commercially successful artists of all kinds return to the city’s center as the infrastructure of business, transportation, entertainment, crafts, ingenuity and real estate have exploded beyond expectations over the last two decades.

The artists of all kinds are enchanted by Downtown’s unique historic vibe combined with the impactful energy of new creative residents. Cleverness, inventiveness and imagination abound in Downtown Los Angeles as new galleries, museums and fun pop-up businesses launch frequently.  The high-ceilings, large windows, city views, historic architecture among walkable urban energy engage and foster the inspiration and vision of the leading artisans, inventors, painters and composers.

Are There Affordable Artist Lofts in Downtown Los Angeles?

ArtLoftLA.com  #affordable #artist #lofts
It is a question that our office receives sometimes up to 100 times per day.
historic-core-lofts-lease-chapman-01-copy

Downtown LA once had a reputation for big, open spaces in raw lofts at dirt cheap prices. The prices were once dirt cheap in the 1980s because Downtown Los Angeles had fallen into blight, with Skid Row homeless, prostitutes and drug dealers had taken over.  Buildings were in disrepair, and the dirt cheap prices were for a good reason.  There were many problems and few solutions in DTLA at that time. Starving artists loved the situation because they could build works of art and create their own artist haven in the big fixer lofts. This story would change dramatically.

Today, Downtown L.A. benefits from an urban renaissance with many billions of dollars in improvements to infrastructure, metro transportation and new housing, some low income and lots of new luxury housing. While there has been a bit of moderate income housing assistance, the middle class have been largely squeezed out of Downtown LA. In fact, while assistance to homeless and enhancements to law enforcement have increased a bit, DTLA has gone up two full notches in standard of living from blight, passing up middle class, and turning into a full-fledged luxury neighborhood with average rents above $2,500 per month and average home price above $600,000. More info at www.ArtLoftLA.com.

With prices soaring, finding affordable artist lofts is more important to more people than ever before. Get a free list of affordable artist lofts for sale or lease. Fill out the online form:

Johnny Depp Sells Another Eclectic Downtown Los Angeles Penthouse Loft for $3.9 Million

Now Available For Sale, the DTLA penthouse condo units crown the Eastern Columbia Lofts, one the city’s most dramatic structures.

eastern-columbia-broadway-e-mk-depp

After recently disposing of the first and biggest of his five eclectically adorned penthouses in the Eastern Columbia Lofts, a landmarked Art Deco building in downtown Los Angeles, Johnny Depp has sold a second unit for $3.90 million. The $1,287.50 per square foot price sets a record in the Historic Core district of DTLA.

The 2-story corner condominium unit, Penthouse 3, includes 2,400 square feet with chevron-patterned hardwood flooring, dramatic chandelier lamps, tufted lounge, bold green walls, and high ceilings.  It comes with with a rooftop garden, skyline views and enclosed private terrace that provides direct access to the building’s common area rooftop deck with a pool, spa, and fitness center with a view.

The actor purchased all five penthouses for about $7.2 million between 2007 and 2008, keeping the original layouts.

ad-cp-divorce-hl-rsiIt’s not clear whether Mr. Depp, 53, decided to list the properties as a result of his divorce from actress Amber Heard, 30. Real estate professional Kevin Dees, son of famous Los Angeles radio host Rick Dees, is the listing agent.

Fans say that Depp is doing the right thing. “Get rid of the stain that was Heard, the cheap skank isn’t even getting the 7 million divorce settlement LOL” spouted one online loudmouth, calling the divorce a “smart move.”

Other fans rave about the A-list actors most recent public appearance: “Congratulations to #JohnnyDepp for receiving a prestigious award for his work with cancer patients & their families”  MORE INFORMATION  |  SOLD

Artist Brother Andy Does Downtown Los Angeles – Analysis of California Art  #dtla #brotherandy

Brother Andy says that Downtown Los Angeles represents the future of art.

artist-brother-andy-sq

broacu1dHis Grace invites us all to enter the world of a visionary. He is a Writer, Film-maker, Fine Artist, Interior Designer, Photographer and Fashionista. Provocative uber-artist (an artist skilled in over five different media), Brother Andy is a prolific auteur film-maker with over 350 films on Youtube, over 100,000 photographic images as a photgrapher, plus countless paintings and sculptures as a fine artist to his credit. His digital collage image, ‘Jesus Chimp’, is considered by some to be a masterpiece of the Intriguism Art Method (‘retro-futurism’), a creative process which he developed. The energetic creator produced highly-effective educational films for people with cognitive disabilities. A master interior decorator, brother andy helps Downtown loft owners to decorate to deliver a powerfully pleasing first impression and quickly improve the resale value when owners want to enhance the look and, feel and the ultimate selling price.

Backup_of_DRINVISIBLEPOSTERDESIGNHis background extends into feature films (producing hundreds of films, including six feature films in the last seven years as writer, producer, editor, and director), television (with appearances on ABC, local news stations in every Southern California major city), stage and live events, music videos and theme parks, as well as Visual Merchandising for several leading retail stores, private interior design clients and web site design. As an ‘artist whisperer’, Brother Andy has collaborated with hundreds of artists. He is also a strident advocate of nudism, feminism and animal rights. His motto is: ‘To educate and entertain, to encourage and inspire…’

arts-district-downtown-lg-mkThe creative line for Downtown L.A. goes back to the 1970s. User-Artist Brother Andy says that the imaginative materials produced by Downtown LA are outside the box.  He says Angelino artists are not deconstructionalists and not negative in their vision and works; rather they see and create a positive type of future in their artwork that is both abstratct and visionary.  Compare the L.A. art scene to New York City where artists are trying harder to be seen, and contract it with artists of Europe who are busy trying to keep traditions going. His Grace says that the art culture of California is much more positive and it is about the experience.  The works of Downtown artists more reflect the personality of the artists. California has so many things to do, thus myriad California adventures are part of the art.  In fact, Andy says that the California state tourism board should make their next TV commercial about the artists of Downtown Los Angeles because they represent the essence of California reflecting through their work.

broad-museum-pop-artDTLA artists are cutting-edge, are not nasty or negative, but very upbeat according to His Grace. Beginning in the 1970s, California artists pioneered bright acrylics that are especially reflective and filled with light.  Southern California, like Italy, features art infused with soft light. Artists worldwide come to Los Angeles for its natural light. Other key ingredients of the Downtown Los Angeles art scene are derived from the SoCal lifestyle: about the food, wine

Street Arts District Flight
Arts District Street Art

— showing that the local area art is primarily about culture.  Exploding in importance for the whole world, the Downtown L.A. art scene reflects a deep understanding of art and life, according to Brother Andy. He says that the new Broad Museum is different from museums of New York City and elsewhere because the modern art museum is traditional only in that it is an exhibition, and unlike traditional museums, the Broad is cutting edge regarding today’s lifestyle.

Artist Brother Andy was a pioneer in the fledgling haunted house industry of the 1970s, creating ghoulish comedy character Armando Creeper. The artist later went on to co-found a new art movement called Intriguism. See his new film just released called Dr. Invisible free online at https://youtu.be/UTxytPjkSQU.

EVENTS – Not To Be Missed: Special Appearance By Reclusive Uber-Artist, Brother Andy

peking-tavern-los-angeles-world-baijiu-dayExpect the unexpected! His Grace uber-artist Brother Andy, will make a live webcast appearance as a Special Guest of Honor, attending by video broadcast at real estate mogul and film producer Corey Chambers’ fiftieth celebration on Wednesday October 26, 2016 at 7 pm no-host dinner and drinks at Peking Tavern 806 S Spring Street, Los Angeles, CA 90014 (213) 988-8308 (Street Parking).

The gifted fine artist (“Jesus Chimp”), underground film-maker (“The Social”), and rebel fashionista will bless us with a live video “meet and greet.” This is as close as we can get for guests who wish a personal audience with His Grace. Mr. Chambers has acted as Patron of the Arts, creative collaborator, and personal confidant for the insightful guru Brother Andy for decades.
