Los Angeles Photographer Santiago Pilots the Arts to New Heights

At the Los Angeles Art Walk, photographer Santiago uses video projections to lead people to housing.

Santiago is a photography major student at SAC, and his passion for photography began in Jr high school and has since then developed into a versatile art form. He has a unique approach to his photography, with a focus on people, nature, and social awareness. Santiago explores different forms of media to create new forms of expression, incorporating slide and portrait photography, dance, and visual projections to convey messages through movement and visuals. He is also in the process of obtaining a drone pilot license at SAC to bring his photography to new heights and help others in need. Santiago’s photography is a manifestation of his interest in people, nature, and social awareness. He creates images that mix different forms of media to create unique expressions that convey meaningful messages. Santiago’s art raises awareness about important issues and is a reflection of his deep sense of social responsibility.

Santiago’s Journey

Santiago has walked a harrowing path to get to where he is today. After the death of all of his family members, he faced a major challenge, an urgent situation, a setback, and special hardship for himself. Santiago had to overcome being homeless after all of his family members passed away. He had to create a GoFundMe page to help with burial expenses. He went to churches, shelters, charities Mercy House, and Orange County Housing Authority program, which helped him get a place to live so that he could continue his education. Despite these challenges, Santiago did not give up, as he knew that he could overcome problems by getting help from professionals, attending appointments and meetings, so that he could solve his own housing problems. What was important to Santiago? Educating himself so that he could contribute to society and help others. He went on to help many homeless people in Orange County and Los Angeles by giving them food and helping them to find local clothing and housing charities. Santiago’s journey is a testament to the power of perseverance and hard work.

Multimedia Performance: WorldHearts

Santiago is not just a photographer, but a multimedia artist. He has a background in video production, multimedia, and performance art. Santiago has created a multimedia performance art piece called “WorldHearts” that raises awareness about social and environmental issues. The performance is a fusion of different art forms, including photography, video, and dance, with a powerful message that is conveyed through movement and visuals. Santiago’s goal with this piece is to inspire and provoke thought and to encourage people to take action to make a positive change in the world.

His determination and resilience serve as an inspiration to others, reminding us that we can overcome adversity and achieve our dreams through hard work, perseverance, and the help of others.

In addition to his artistic pursuits, Santiago has also pursued acting and has played a key role in the play “Angels in America” at Cypress College. His talent and versatility extend beyond photography and art, showcasing his ability to excel in multiple fields.

A: Each of the neighborhoods you mentioned has a unique character and offers different types of lofts that may appeal to different individuals. My personal favorites for the price are Alta Lofts in Lincoln Heights (home of the L.A. Loft Blog) and the Higgins Building by the Old Bank district and Civic Center downtown).
