Today, more than ever, it’s wise to save as much as possible when doing any kind of real estate, including leases. Whether buying or renting, most who are making a move find that a credit report will be involved with the lease application or home loan process. Federal law requires each of the three nationwide consumer credit reporting companies, Equifax, Experian and TransUnion, to provide a free credit report every 12 months upon request. CreditKarma also provides a free credit report any time (see instructions below). These days, they all attempt to make it easy to accomplish many credit-related tasks right from a home computer. #freecreditreport
In some cases the web-based request may fail. If so, try requesting a credit report by phone. As a last resort, request an application for free credit report by mail. #freeleaseapplication
To order, visit annualcreditreport.com, call 1-877-322-8228 or complete the Annual Credit Report Request Form and mail it to: Annual Credit Report Request Service, P.O. Box 105281, Atlanta, GA 30348-5281.
Order reports from each of the three nationwide credit reporting companies separately, or order a report from all of the companies at the same time. The law allows consumers to order one free copy of the report from each of the nationwide credit reporting companies every 12 months.

My husband and I often have debates on credit score and the meaning behind it all. I’m in the 700’s, and he’s in the 800’s, I think. How can he be that much higher than me. Is that a big deal breaker??
