Carpet was extremely popular from the 1960s to the 1980s, has proven generally safe. Quality carpet can be kept healthy and hygienic with vacuuming and shampooing. Of course, those who appreciate lofts tend to dislike carpet. Most loft lovers prefer polished concrete or hardwood floors.
