Sylmar Fire

Deadly Saddleridge Fire Burns the San Fernando Valley Fueled by High Winds; Mandatory Evacuations Ordered #sylmar #fire

Los Angeles Times calls the Sylmar Fire “new dystopia” as 2 million residents have been left without electric power.  #sylmarfire

At least 1 dead, dozens of homes destroyed, including several million dollar homes in Granada Hills, roads closed and mandatory evacuations creating traffic nightmares in Chatsworth and Simi Valley. Several families have lost homes, completely destroyed in Porter Ranch, while Santa Clarita and El Sereno are also affected.  Less than 30 miles from Downtown Los Angeles, more than 100,000 residents forced from their homes.   |   VIDEO

Many of the destroyed single family pool homes were in the most desirable neighborhood in Granada Hills with spectacular views and huge 16,000 to 26,000 sq ft lots. Near the 14/5 interchange and the 118 freeway, the sadly destroyed homes had views of the valley, downtown, the Santa Susana, San Gabriel and Santa Monica Mountains. Shifting winds have made the battle challenging for firefighters.   |   NEWS

Skycrane helicopters are making water drops on flames approaching Porter Ranch to protect million dollar homes in the neighborhood.  The fire was only 13% contained as of Friday afternoon.   |   L.A. FIRE MAP
