At Mateo is an upcoming $80 million Grove-style shopping center that will replace five old warehouses with 128,000 square feet of shopping. Arts District locals and visitors will enjoy a bounty of new artisanal food options along with hip, upscale retail stores in chic industrial buildings. On land once occupied vineyards and orange groves, then by 1970s warehouses, the center will bring also two floors of creative workspace above the retail. Restaurant and cool chain-free shops will attract large number of visitors, who will have plenty of parking thanks to the new parking structure included in the new construction.
